About The Artist

Pratiksha I am originally from across the ocean – I was born in Nairobi, Kenya and raised in England. I have lived in the United States for 26 years, and in Fort Worth for just the last six. I moved here with my two wonderful kids and could never imagine leaving.

Painting has always been a passion of mine, and possibly my greatest creative talent. Through the years, I have had a lot of influence from my late uncle, who was an artist. My uncle always said to me, “never be afraid of the brush.” These words have inspired and motivated me to pursue painting and I must admit I would not be nearly as passionate and confident about my work had he not said these words. Although creating art is primarily a hobby for me, I have occasionally competed in local art fairs and participate in small art exhibits and events in the area.

Beyond my uncle, my next sources of inspiration are nature, the colors that surround our every day, and my mood. I think the combination of these inspiration sources help me express emotions in my work.

My Interests

My artistic journey up to this point has taught me many lessons and experiences that have enriched my work as an artist, a mother, and a woman. I have received love, support, encouragement and inspiration from so many friends and family members. It is my intention to touch people’s lives through my work and to use art as a medium to give back to the communities I am a part of. In an effort to accomplish this, I will be donating 10% of the proceeds of my paintings to a non-profit organization dear to my heart: SANDRA’S ANGELS. Sandra’s Angels is a group of talented and successful women that have come together with the purpose of service and sharing their unique talents and gifts for the benefit of the community. I find the work of Sandra’s Angels inspiring, as it gives women the opportunity to express themselves while adding to the culture of their communities.

I hope you enjoy my work as it is a reflection of both myself and all that is dear to me.
